Service is Scouting

At Pack 773, service isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are. Through service, Cub Scouts learn compassion, responsibility, and the joy of making a difference. Whether it's planting trees, or picking up trash in our community, service teaches our Scouts to live out the Scout Oath and Law in meaningful ways.

Why We Serve:

To live the Scout Oath: “…to help other people at all times…”
To connect our Scouts to the broader world and build empathy.
To give families a chance to make lasting memories while doing good together.
To fulfill advancement and award requirements in a hands-on, impactful way.

Examples of Service at Pack 773

Pack 773 is proud to support our community through ongoing and one-time service efforts. Some of our recent projects include:

Building and Planting a Rain Garden

In partnership with Friends of the Rouge, our Cubs helped design and plant a native garden to protect our watershed and earn the Scouting for Clean Waterways patch.

Scouting for Food

Each year, our Cub Scouts participate in Scouting for Food, a nationwide service project to help fight hunger in our local communities. By distributing flyers, collecting donations, and delivering them to area food banks, our Scouts learn firsthand how a small effort can make a big difference. It’s one of the most meaningful ways we live out the Scout promise to help others, one can at a time.

School Clean Up

Annually we partner with our Chartered Organization (the Workman PTO) to help spruce up the school. The scouts help pull weeds, remove brush, and lay mulch.

Get Involved

Service is part of the journey for every Cub Scout. Some projects are organized by the Pack, while others are led by individual Dens or families. We welcome new ideas — if your family is connected to a cause or organization, let us know!

Do a Good Turn Daily. Whether big or small, every act of service counts.

Let’s continue to teach our Scouts that being helpful, kind, and brave doesn't stop at Pack meetings — it shines brightest in the community around them.

Our Cub Scouts don't just learn about helping others—they do it. Over the years, we've partnered with local organizations to give back through service projects, environmental stewardship, and acts of kindness. Here's what some of our community partners have shared with us:
